Purple Thumb Day

The purple thumb became a symbol of democracy in the Iraqi election in 2005. Many women voted and showed off their thumb. This showed that iraq is moving in the right direction towards a democratic government. In 2008, "purple thumb" was referenced when Barack Obama won the presidential election

because of the large amount of votes.
